With great sadness, the family of Leonarda L. Macias announces her passing on August 26, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas, at the age of 86. She was born on May 21, 1939, in Austin, Texas, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family and faith. As a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she touched the lives of everyone around her, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and strength that will resonate with those who knew her.
Leonarda was a woman of simple yet profound pleasures. She had a deep passion for the stories told in novelas, often getting lost in the characters’ lives and finding comfort in their dramas. Beyond entertainment, she stayed closely connected to the world around her by watching the daily news, always seeking out the bigger picture and staying informed about current events.
A devout Christian, Leonarda’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. Her love for Christian music provided her with peace, and she found joy in singing along to hymns that brought her closer to God while sewing away. Her unwavering belief in family and love shaped her character, and she often served as the glue that held her family together through both good times and difficult moments. She was a woman of grace, patience, and generosity, always offering a listening ear or a comforting embrace to those in need.
She also had a well-known and cherished fondness for a crisp, ice-cold Coca-Cola, and insisted that only the name-brand version would do. This small but significant pleasure became a symbol of her joyful spirit and her appreciation for life’s little indulgences.
Preceded in death by her loving husband; Jose Macias, her father; Leonardo Lopez, mother; Maria Costante, and brother; Antonio Lopez.
She is survived by her children; Juanita Macias, Maria Luisa Hurtado, Anita Espinosa, Florinda Rosales, Lydia Vasquez, Jose Luis Macias, Elias Macias, David Macias, the grandson she raised as her own; Heriberto Macias Diaz (Elizabeth), her brothers and sisters; Guadalupe Rodriguez, Nicholas Lopez, Juan Francisco Ortiz, Angelita Warren, as well as and her 29 beautiful grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, September 1st, where friends and family will gather to honor the beautiful woman she was.
She will be remembered as a soft soul, a devoted mother, and a loving friend who strived to live like Jesus did. Though she has left this world, her spirit will forever live on in the memories of those she leaves behind.
