Rafael T. Leyva entered into eternal rest on August 19, 2026, in Crystal City, Texas, at the age of 66. He was born on May 3, 1960, in Carrizo Springs, Texas, to Hiram C. Leyva and Maria Torres Leyva.
Rafael is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Brenda Blackthunder; his sons, Hiram E. Leyva and Bryan Leyva; his granddaughter, LaVonne Leyva; his parents, Hiram C. Leyva and Maria T. Leyva; his brothers, Antonio Leyva and Eusebio Trigo; and his sisters, Oralia Rodriguez and Delfina Cisneros.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Rafael E. Leyva, Brent Blackthunder, and Savoy Abraham; his daughter, Karen Longoria (Erik); his brother, Reymundo Leyva; his sisters, Olivia Galvan (Riche), Noelia Leyva, and Maria Elena Tenorio (Sylvestre); and his sister-in-law, Irma Leyva.
Rafael also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Reysueno, Jordyn, Jude, Kobe, Destanie, Savior, Brent V., Lindsey, Mark, KC, Estrella, and Bella, each of whom held a very special place in his heart.
Rafael was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy came from the time he spent surrounded by those he loved. He especially liked being with his children and grandchildren and the memories they created together throughout the years. In his quieter days, Rafael could be found sitting outside, enjoying the fresh air while listening to music. He also enjoyed watching western movies, something that brought him relaxation and enjoyment.
Rafael will be remembered for the love he had for his family and for the simple moments that brought him happiness. His presence will be deeply missed, but the love, memories, and moments he shared with his family will remain in their hearts for years to come.
May Rafael T. Leyva rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the loved ones who went before him.
