Ramon Camacho, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in his hometown of Crystal City, Texas. He was born on May 26, 1956, in Crystal City, where he spent his life surrounded by family, friends, and community.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pablo and Amelia L. Camacho.
Ramon is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Cantu; his children, Cynthia Camacho, Ruby Camacho, Isaias (Sulema) Cantu, Esme (Joe) Cantu, and Maria Cantu; and his siblings, Pablo (Maria) Camacho, Jose Camacho, Jesse Camacho, Elida Vasquez (Jesse) and Maria Elena Paredes (Fidencio). He also leaves behind 23 cherished grandchildren and 25 beautiful great-grandchildren who will continue to carry his memory in their hearts.
At a young age, Ramon began working as a migrant field worker, and at the age of 15, he was baptized—a moment that reflected his faith and personal growth.
Ramon was known for his joyful spirit and the special way he could make others laugh. He had many dear friends and loved spending time with them, as well as with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. One of his favorite ways to bring joy to his family was through his famous “chicken dance,” which never failed to fill the room with laughter and smiles. Seeing his loved ones happy brought him the greatest joy.
Ramon’s warmth, laughter, and love will forever be remembered by all who knew him.
